Screenings

Attention Parents/Guardians and Students

A new measurement to monitor our student's physical growth has been added to the yearly health screening process.  It is called the BMI  (Body Mass Index) and is a calculation used as a guide to help assess whether a person is underweight or overweight. This calculation is made using the height and weight of the individual.  As we all know, being underweight or overweight can make a person at risk for many health problems.  The BMI will be another tool that you can share with your physician to evaluate whether or not your child's measurements are in a healthy range.

During the 2005-2006 school year grades K-4 will have the BMI calculated and a notification letter will be sent home to parents and/or guardians.

If you have any questions about this, please contact Mrs. C. Smith R.N.  438-7673, ext. 5419.
