United Way Community School

Elementary Parents, Please Take Our Survey:

Union City Elementary is a United Way Community School that will bring in non-academic supports to help our students. In order to do that, we are looking for feedback from everyone, including parents. We are asking that all parents of elementary students complete this anonymous survey to help us better understand your relationship to the school, your perception of the school, and what the school could offer that would be of interest to you. Please answer all questions to the best of your ability; we appreciate your honest feedback.

To complete the survey, follow the link:
Paper copies of the survey will be sent home to families that indicated they do not have access to the internet in the previous district-wide survey.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the community school director, Bailey Pituch ([email protected] or by phone at 814-438-7611 ext 3414)

What is a Community School?

A community school is designed to be the hub of the neighborhood, bringing resources and programs to the school to help students succeed.

At Union City, this means that there is now a Community School Director that will listen to what families, students, and faculty want to see happen at the school. Once you share your feedback, the Director and leadership team will get to work building partnerships and connecting resources to the school!

Community schools help address health, wellness and the social needs of its students, families and the surrounding neighborhood.

Community School Director's Next Steps for the 2021-2022 School Year:

  • Build relationships and get to know you and your students.
  • Develop a Community School Leadership Team, consisting of school staff, parents, community members, and program providers.
  • Survey students, families and staff to determine the needs of the school.
  • Conduct focus groups with students, families and staff.
  • Work with the Community School Leadership Team to prioritize needs of the school.
  • Develop an action plan to outline the strategies and steps to addressing those needs.
  • Support existing programs and events throughout the school year.
  • Help connect students and families with supports needed to be successful.
