Drug and Alcohol Programming

6th-12th Grade

Pyramid Healthcare's specialty treatment programs focus on reaching teens in the community who may be using drugs or alcohol or affected by someone close to them using substances. Pyramid Healthcare partners with community leaders, such as law enforcement officers and educators, to make sure thier programs are effective in reaching those who need help most. The staff assigned to their teen specialty programs are held to the same standards as those in thier treatment facilities. They are professionals in the field of addiction, often with expertise in working with adolescents.

Youth at Risk

Youth at Risk is an intervention program for juvenile drug and/or alcohol offenders. Youth at Risk is offered through the Erie outpatient treatment center in collaboration with local law enforcement officials and parents.

This program educates young people ages 12 and up about substance abuse while empowering them to make better choices. Professionally directed by a Pyramid Healthcare chemical dependency counselor, these sessions challenge young people to:

Examine their own values and experiences with drugs and alcohol.
Discover the physical, emotional, behavioral, and legal consequences of substance abuse.
Recognize the signs and symptoms of abuse.
Explore the cycle of addiction.
Learn decision-making skills to help them avoid future, continued substance use.

Student Assistance Program

The Student Assistance Program (SAP) provides support to students who are facing difficulties that may interfere with their academic success.

Each school’s SAP team is comprised of administrators, counselors, and teachers. In addition, each team includes a representative from a community mental health agency and a community drug and alcohol agency.

Pyramid Healthcare is contracted by local authorities to provide drug and alcohol liaisons for surrounding school districts. These liaisons attend SAP team meetings at each school and may conduct individual or group counseling sessions. They may also provide treatment recommendations based on their interactions with and assessments of the students involved in the program.
