Help support the Union City High School Student Betterment Fund!

It's AMP Lab Day #2 here at UC! Our Penn College of Technology Advanced Manufacturing Pre-Apprenticeship students from UCASD and North East SD worked on several lab activities--one of which challenged them to build and test their own battery-operated motors. Dr. Peter Kuvshinikov from PennWest Edinboro led today's session, and our friends at Snaptite joined us as an industry partner to discuss careers in manufacturing right here in NWPA. Our students asked fantastic questions and excelled at today's activities. #GoBears

Congratulations to our new Union City High School National Honor Society inductees!

In celebration of AmeriCorps Week, we would like to highlight our own Youth AmeriCorps member, Abbey Campisano! Abbey works with elementary students every day, as part of the Diversified Occupations program. The district piloted this opportunity with AmeriCorps SMILES and United Way of Erie County for the first time this year! Students are always excited to practice their work with Miss Abbey, and our staff love that she's always willing to lend a helping hand.

Congratulations to Masie Higley who officiated her first PIAA Volleyball match here at Union City on March 10th. Masie became a certified official through Mrs. Post's PIAA Officiating class. Masie worked alongside Chip Williams for her first match.

March is Athletic Trainer month and we have one of the best at Union City! Thank you Alexis Barron for your tireless dedication in keeping our student athletes safe and helping them in their time of need. You are a key part of our athletic success!

Giving a BIG UC Bear welcome to Dr. Peter Kuvshinikov from PennWest! Dr. Kuvshinikov is facilitating our first official lab day for our Penn College of Technology Advanced Manufacturing Pre-Apprenticeship program. We have 8 UCASD students and 3 North East students engaging in a full day of hands-on practical learning experiences as part of their required coursework for this program. Students are developing a pulley system this morning and will progress through a series of tasks over the course of the day. #GoBears #PCTAMP.

Van Ward is off to the PIAA State Wrestling Championships today! Have a great tournament Van. Pin to Win!

Congratulations to Austin Brown and Steven Klakamp! They have been selected to participate in the Save An Eye All-Star Football Game this summer!

Thank you, Beaumont Industries, for hosting our PCT Advanced Manufacturing Pre-Apprenticeship students! During this hands-on experience, our students got to watch the engineering and manufacturing process in action as the hosts developed a "Bears" keychain for each student to take home. Students were exposed to a variety of career paths and skillsets needed for success in this industry. This is our first year as part of the NWPA AMP Program Cohort with Penn College of Technology, and we're so excited to see our students get out and meet industry experts. Thank you, Mrs. Colleen Ireland, our Diversified Occupations teacher, for organizing this experience.

As we inch a little closer to Spring, we wanted to share the dates for the upcoming PSSA and Keystone exams taking place in April and May. In addition to the testing dates and the available make-up days for any students who are absent, this handout also provides you with which grade-levels take which PSSAs and which high school courses are Keystone capstone courses for those exams. Check it out, and reach out to your School Assessment Coordinator if you have any questions!
