UCASD was a proud recipient of a Dollar General Literacy Foundation grant this summer! The DGLF grant program provides funding opportunities for schools to develop summer-based literacy programs, so this allowed us to host a "Literacy Leap Week" program on-campus for students who were in Grades K-2 during the 2024-2025 school year. The program focused on targeted, individualized literacy skills development for each student, blended with fun and engaging learning experiences planned by our teachers. We are so grateful for Dr. Tomcho and our teachers, Mrs. Bem, Mrs. Boyd, Ms. Mlynar, Mrs. Smock, and Ms. Trauner, who made this program a wonderful experience for our 20 participants. Congratulations to all our elementary students who earned recognition at our Union City Elementary School's Awards Assembly. We are so proud of all our students! A special thank you to Dr. and Mrs. Dwain Rogers for supporting the Rogers Academic Achievers program. This program recognizes students in grades 3-5 with a certificate and gift card for earning all advanced grades in every classes.

UC Elementary families, it is Scholastic Book Fair time! Next week May 19th-23rd students in grades K4-5 will have the opportunity to visit the Scholastic Book Fair during their Library Special Time. The Scholastic Book Fair will also be open to families from 5:00 pm- 7:00 pm the evening of May 22nd as UC Elementary hosts the Art Show showcasing the art work of students in grades K-5th.
