It is my pleasure to welcome Dr. Julie Skelly to the Union City family as our next Director of Curriculum and Special Programs. Dr. Skelly will be working alongside Mrs. Dell for the next two months as we complete the end of the school year. She will officially take the reigns on July 1, 2026.
Dr. Skelly’s career in education began in 2006 when she started teaching general, instrumental, and choral music in DuBois, Pennsylvania. She moved back to Erie county in 2008 and taught an additional nine years in elementary music at Fairview Elementary School. In 2017 Dr. Skelly became an assistant principal at Fairview Elementary School and has remained in that position until this month. Recently she also served as the Cyber Principal for Fairview School District and helped write grants and acquire funding for their new elementary playground. She earned her Doctorate at Pitt in 2022 in Educational Leadership with her dissertation focus on mental health education for teachers.
In addition to education, Dr. Skelly plays for the Mercyhurst Civic Orchestra, serves on her local historical society, dabbles in genealogy, and loves to attend musicals.
When Dr. Skelly is not at work; you can find her spending time with her husband, Tim, who is also an educator. They have three children, Kenley (9), Mara (8), and Alice (4) who keep them busy with basketball and softball this time of year!
We will be sharing much more information on Dr. Skelly soon, as well as announcing opportunities for families, students, faculty, and staff to meet her!
Again, welcome to the UCASD family, Dr. Skelly and family!
