We have another round of OPEN LAB HOURS this Thursday, December 4 from 4:00-7:00 in Room #219 at the MS/HS. If you are a community member who would like the opportunity to come utilize our PBDA ConnectUC laptops in our computer lab, please feel free to attend this or any of the currently scheduled lab sessions. More will be added this Spring. Come to the MS/HS Main Entrance and follow the signs back to the computer lab.

On Friday, November 21, faculty, staff, and students from Union City Area School District wore red in recognition of #RedShirtDayinPA. This event was created to show support for and bring awareness to the more than 50,000 children and youth in Pennsylvania who experience homelessness each year. Erie Together is launching the Erie County Human Services Cohorts Initiative. This is a fantastic opportunity for high school graduates and/or individuals with varying levels of post-secondary education to pursue local, in-demand human service careers and receive tremendous support including connections to hiring employers, training to help them be successful in their roles, and significant financial incentives upon completion of two years full-time work in a targeted role (including a stipend and reimbursement opportunities for student loans). The regional opportunity is made possible through a partnership of the Erie County Department of Human Services, Erie Together, and Donnelly-Boland and Associates. There are only 15 slots available for this first cohort, so seats may fill fast!

As part of our PBDA Digital Connectivity grant, we're offering these FREE sessions for community members as part of the ConnectUC program. This week's program features the FREE coursework available to our community members to develop in-demand workforce skills through SkillUp PA. Check out the flier and details below about this valuable session, and join us at the Middle/High School for this event. No registration necessary. Refreshments will be provided. You do not need to bring anything with you. Laptops will be available for use. The event is from 6:00-7:00.

Did you know that UCASD is the proud recipient of a Pennsylvania Broadband Development Authority Grant?! The goal of the program, entitled ConnectUC, is to bring access to technology to support digital literacy and occupational skills training opportunities. Through this grant, we are are able to offer three different programs to the community: 1) A Laptop Borrowing Program for Community Members, 2) A Digital Literacy Event Series for Community Members, and 3) Open Lab Nights for Community Members.
