Congratulations to Trent Parkhurst who was recognized last evening as one of nine recipients during the 2023-24 school year for IU5's "Class Act Award".

Union City Area School District was honored to host a Remake Learning Days/Career Ready PA Backpack Challenge Mega Event on May 22! Elementary and middle school students participated in our "Sunshine & Sunflowers" event with our CTE Agriculture Program students, IU5, Ernst Seeds, Presque Isle Audubon Society, and the PA Department of Agriculture! Our middle school was one of only THIRTY schools in the whole state to earn more than 100 badges during the month-long #CareerReadyPA challenge! PDE commemorated our participation with this awesome banner which will hang in our MS hallways! #RemakeDaysNWPA #GoBears #CareerReadyPA

Geography Bee Winners Congratulations to the 2023-2024 Geography Bee winners; 1st place: Chase Gonzalez, 2nd place: Landon Sherwood, and 3rd place: Cael Wojtecki. We are so proud of your accomplishments!

Spelling Bee Winners Congratulations to our 2023-2024 Spelling Bee winners; 1st place for third year running, Gavin Ahl, 2nd place: Blake Thompson, and 3rd place: Riley Warner.

Congratulations to Joe Pituch. Joe signed his National Letter of Intent to Pennwest to participate on their Track & Field team. Joe is a four year letter winner at Union City and three year District 10 qualifier in the throwing events.

Union City held its Junior/Senior Prom on May 11th at the Dovetail at Lindsey Hollow. It was a fun evening of dancing and fun for all the students that attended. We also hosted the Prom-to-Dawn on the campus of Union City. Students had games, refreshments, and activities all through the night. At the end of the evening, drawings were held for some pretty awesome prizes.

Elementary Art Show Scheduled for May 16th at from 5-7 PM

Six Union City middle schoolers participated in this year's Pennsylvania Music Educators Association Music Fest at Harborcreek School District. Row One: Anna Bella Eastmand and Rian Moore. Row 2: Abigail Jacobs, Bria Gorton, Olivia Shrout, and Jacob Pelc. The students spent the day rehearsing with students from surrounding schools to prepare for a concert held that evening. They all did an amazing job and represented our school district with pride. Mr. Froman and Mr. Fulton helped prepare our students for the event, and Mr. Fulton accompanied the students and supported them throughout the day and evening.

The UCASD School Board approved a new HMH, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Science curriculum for our elementary students. This series will afford our students the opportunity to learn fundamental Science content, and also stimulate their interest with related hands-on activities.

The Track & Field Team held Senior Night was held on April 22nd. Our senior athletes were recognized for their years of dedication to the program. Our 2024 seniors are: Brady Blakeslee, Ryan Himrod, Clay Laughery, Joe Pituch, Caden Rangel, Kendra Ahl, Kaleigh Brenner, Kaila Edwards, Maddie Greico, and Jasmin Spencer. We thank all of our seniors for their hard work and dedication and wish them all the best in their future endeavors.

Congratulations to Cara Shearer who has been recognized as a participating artist at the WQLN Arts Show for her drawing of “The White Wolf”.
