The UCASD will be operating on a THREE hour delay on Tuesday, January 27, 2026. This additional hour on this very cold morning will allow the temperatures to increase to a safer threshold and will provide our transportation department with additional time to ensure buses are running smoothly. All usual start-times will be pushed back exactly three hours, but dismissal time will remain the same. Bus pick-up times will be exactly three hours later than usual. All after-school activities will continue as planned today (Monday) and tomorrow (Tuesday). All families, faculty, and staff will be receiving this information via phone, email, and text. Please check your email for details, and stay safe and warm, UC!

Our Union City Robotics teams have reached significant new milestones this year. None of these achievements would have been possible without the continued support of the school board, administration, our community, and—most importantly—the many students who have participated in the robotics program over the years. Their dedication helped build this program from the ground up into what it is today.
This season has been an especially active and successful one for Union City Robotics. On Saturday, January 10, teams PLUH, Craig, and Dinosaurs & Tacos competed at Fairview High School. All three teams advanced to the playoff rounds. Team PLUH advanced to the championship match with their alliance and competed against two Fairview High School teams. For the first time in Union City history, Team PLUH captured the championship title and brought home the tournament trophy. In the Robot Skills Challenge, Team Craig placed second, Team PLUH placed third, and Team Dinosaurs & Tacos placed twelfth.
On Monday, January 12, Union City Robotics traveled to the North Clarion Qualifier Event. Twenty-five teams competed, with only sixteen advancing to the playoffs. Three of the four Union City teams—PLUH, Dinosaurs & Tacos, and Craig—advanced to the playoff rounds. In the first round, Team PLUH and Dinosaurs & Tacos formed an alliance and competed against Team Craig and a North Clarion alliance. Both alliances performed exceptionally well, with Teams PLUH and Dinosaurs & Tacos advancing to the quarterfinals.
Earlier in the season, on November 24, Union City Robotics competed in the “Clash at the Castle” Tournament in Franklin. Twenty-three teams participated in the event, with only sixteen advancing to playoffs. All six Union City teams qualified for the playoff rounds—an outstanding accomplishment. Team Craig, consisting of Lucas Myer, Jonathan Radomski, Lucas Silka, and Zachary Mayer, advanced to the championship match. For the first time in Union City Robotics history, a team competed in the tournament championship at this event.
The program has one more Qualifying Tournament event at Fort LeBoeuf on Friday Feb 13th and then the States Competition at Clarion University on March 9th. Two of our teams earned spots for the States competition and a couple more hoping to earn a spot at the Fort LeBoeuf Tournament.
These accomplishments reflect the hard work, perseverance, and teamwork of our students, as well as the strong support of our district and community. We are incredibly proud of our Union City Robotics program and look forward to building on this success in the years ahead.
