Current UCASD 8th graders recently visited our Nation's Capital, immersing themselves in the rich history and culture of Washington, D.C. During their visit, students toured iconic landmarks such as the White House and Ford's Theater and participated in a guided tour of the Capitol Building. The adventure continued as students explored the Monuments and Memorials and a visit to Arlington National Cemetery, where they witnessed the solemn Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Students also visited several museums, highlights included the Holocaust Museum, the Air and Space Museum, the Museum of Natural History, and the African American History Museum. Each stop offered valuable lessons about the diverse narratives that shape our Nation's history. Overall, the students of the Class of 2029 left D.C. with a wealth of knowledge and unforgettable memories!

In celebration of AmeriCorps Week, we would like to highlight our own Youth AmeriCorps member, Abbey Campisano! Abbey works with elementary students every day, as part of the Diversified Occupations program. Students are always excited to practice their work with Miss Abbey, and our staff love that she's always willing to lend a helping hand.

Thank you, Beaumont Industries, for hosting our PCT Advanced Manufacturing Pre-Apprenticeship students! During this hands-on experience, our students got to watch the engineering and manufacturing process in action as the hosts developed a "Bears" keychain for each student to take home. Students were exposed to a variety of career paths and skillsets needed for success in this industry. This is our first year as part of the NWPA AMP Program Cohort with Penn College of Technology, and we're so excited to see our students get out and meet industry experts. Thank you, Mrs. Colleen Ireland, our Diversified Occupations teacher, for organizing this experience.
