K-4 Orientation was a successful night at UCE! Our new K4 students along with their families joined us to see what school is all about. They enjoyed a bus ride, time in the classroom, and were able to see their new friends in their new class. We had an amazing turnout for this event, with 87% of our students in attendance!

Congratulations to Mrs. Anne Conti for being recognized as ACES 2026 Educator of the Year! Mrs. Conti was honored during the annual 2026 ACES Awards Luncheon on Tuesday, August 11th . The ACES (Americans for the Competitive Enterprise System) is a non-profit, non-political, educational organization promoting the understanding of free market economics to students, teachers, and the general public through partnerships between students, teachers, and the general public. Mrs. Conti was recognized in particular for her commitment and efforts with business week year in and year out.

Today is Erie Gives Day! The Union City Athletic Department is selling bricks as part of a donation to the athletic department. If you go to https://www.eriegives.org/story/5pyeif you will be able to view the page and make a donation. Once the list of donors has been sent to the school, Mr. Reagle, the Athletic Director, will reach out and get the exact design of your brick. The flyer can be found on the Erie Gives site so you can plan out the size and design you would like beforehand. The pictures attached are examples of what your brick could look like! The Union City Athletic Department is looking for sponsors for the 2026-2027 School Year! If you choose to donate, money raised will go towards improving our facilities, equipment for our athletic teams, and many other things to improve the experience of our student-athletes. We have multiple levels of sponsorships, so you can donate at a level that you feel comfortable with. Our Varsity Football team is hosting a free youth football camp for Union City Students in grades 3-6. Come to the football field July 13th, 15th, and 16th and learn from the Bears Football Team!

Union City Area School District is currently accepting applications for Middle School / High School Food Service Workers. Employment would begin the week of August 17, 2026 and be up to 5 hours per day, 190 days per year. Applications are made out to Chef Krista Byler by 1:00pm on July 13, 2026. We look forward to you joining the bear family!

I have also coached Unified Track and Field for the Special Olympics, as well as been the advisor for numerous student clubs. I am absolutely thrilled to be joining Union City Area School District. I am looking forward to continuing my work in Life Skills, as that is my passion. It's beyond exciting getting to work with such a dedicated group of professionals who are kind, driven and dedicated to the best interests of Union City students. I can't wait to get started!"

At the Tuesday, June 2, 2026 UCASD School Board Meeting, three departing members of the administrative team were recognized for their years of service. Dr. Melissa Tomcho will be retiring after her career dedicated to Union City. Mr. Dan Keefer will be moving on to begin his new role as the Superintendent of Oil City. Mrs. Stacey Dell will be moving on to assume a new role at IU6 as their Director of Student Services.

On Wednesday, June 3, 2026 the UCASD PTO presented Dr. Melissa Tomcho with a wood carved bench to honor her years of service in Union City Area School District.


Last night we hosted the annual Athletic Awards Ceremony where we recognized some of our amazing student-athletes. We celebrates our 1st and 2nd Team All-Region Winners, the Busy Bears (students who played in three sports this school year), Senior Award winners, our scholarship winners, and our Outstanding Athletes. These student-athletes played a huge part in an extremely successful year in sports at Union City, and it was a great evening to honor them!

Congratulations to the Union City Trap Team who finished 2nd in their conference which features teams from all across Western Pennsylvania. The team also had plenty of individual success as well. The following members of the team have moved on and will compete for the State Championship this weekend: Ava Greer, Makayla Hedderick, Bryce Hedderick, Kennady Brenner, Brooke VanTassel, Hannah Cole, Billy Cole, Dylan Kiester, Addison Manno, Austin Manno, Braedon Eastman, Mason Gregor, Trey Kercheval, Owen Miller, Hunter Price, Nate Brown, and Nolan Thompson.
