Today's the Day! It's Erie Gives Day!
The Union City Area School District Foundation is taking part in Erie Gives Day, and your support can make a difference! Today, August 13th, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., the Erie Community Foundation and Union City Community Foundation will match a percentage of every donation made to the UC School District Foundation. Good morning, Bear Community! If you've driven by campus recently, you may have seen our beautiful sunflower garden in bloom. If you're looking for a picturesque spot for some photos, come check it out!
These seeds were planted as part of our District's participation in the international #RemakeLearningDays event in May. During that "Mega Event," our middle school students worked alongside our high school Agriculture program students and FFA to plant this garden. Seeds were donated by our friends at Ernst Seeds, and our students learned about careers in agriculture, made pinecone birdfeeders with the Presque Isle Audubon Society, received their own wildflower seeds to take home to plant, and learned about the commercial uses of sunflowers. All participating students completed digital surveys for the #PACareerReadyBackpackChallenge, earning our Middle School a banner and special recognition from PDE, alongside only 30 other schools in PA! Huge thank you to Stephanie Rhodes and the IU5 team for their support in making this event possible!

Congratulations to Trent Parkhurst who was recognized last evening as one of nine recipients during the 2023-24 school year for IU5's "Class Act Award".
Union City Area School District was honored to host a Remake Learning Days/Career Ready PA Backpack Challenge Mega Event on May 22! Elementary and middle school students participated in our "Sunshine & Sunflowers" event with our CTE Agriculture Program students, IU5, Ernst Seeds, Presque Isle Audubon Society, and the PA Department of Agriculture! Our middle school was one of only THIRTY schools in the whole state to earn more than 100 badges during the month-long #CareerReadyPA challenge! PDE commemorated our participation with this awesome banner which will hang in our MS hallways!

Spelling Bee Winners
Congratulations to our 2023-2024 Spelling Bee winners; 1st place for third year running, Gavin Ahl, 2nd place: Blake Thompson, and 3rd place: Riley Warner.
Congratulations to Joe Pituch. Joe signed his National Letter of Intent to Pennwest to participate on their Track & Field team. Joe is a four year letter winner at Union City and three year District 10 qualifier in the throwing events.
Union City held its Junior/Senior Prom on May 11th at the Dovetail at Lindsey Hollow. It was a fun evening of dancing and fun for all the students that attended. We also hosted the Prom-to-Dawn on the campus of Union City. Students had games, refreshments, and activities all through the night. At the end of the evening, drawings were held for some pretty awesome prizes.
