Did you know that, in addition to our dual enrollment agreements with RCI Gannon and Mercyhurst, NPRC, and PSU, Union City High School offers SIX opportunities through TWO local universities for our students to earn college credit? Pennwest University is sending college professors to campus this fall to teach Current Questions in Science and Personal Productivity Software. Also, students can enroll in an online course through Pennwest in Artificial Intelligence. We even offer courses during the school day that are taught by our own teachers that students can earn college credit from Robert Morris University. Students can take Anatomy & Physiology, Robotics II, and Calculus and earn college credits. All Juniors and Seniors with a 3.0 GPA as well as Sophomores with a 3.75 GPA are welcome to apply for these opportunities. Please call the High School Office if you are interested!

UC Elementary students through the Dollar General Literacy grant enjoyed a week of engaging, fun literacy activities.
6th Grade Orientation and Open House
Letters and fliers have been sent home to the incoming 6th grade families inviting them to attend 6th grade orientation on August 14th. This orientation is very important to help students eliminate stress as they transition from elementary school to middle school. Students will have the opportunity to meet their teachers and follow their schedules, become more familiar with where their classrooms are located in the building, find their lockers, and practice opening their locks. Additionally, 7th and 8th grade students are invited to Open House on August 21nd. Students are also able to complete their Chromebook Agreement Forms prior to the start of school so they can take their Chromebooks home on the first day of school.

UCASD was a proud recipient of a Dollar General Literacy Foundation grant this summer! The DGLF grant program provides funding opportunities for schools to develop summer-based literacy programs, so this allowed us to host a "Literacy Leap Week" program on-campus for students who were in Grades K-2 during the 2024-2025 school year. The program focused on targeted, individualized literacy skills development for each student, blended with fun and engaging learning experiences planned by our teachers. We are so grateful for Dr. Tomcho and our teachers, Mrs. Bem, Mrs. Boyd, Ms. Mlynar, Mrs. Smock, and Ms. Trauner, who made this program a wonderful experience for our 20 participants. Happy Reading, Students & Families! #GoBears
